Design

  • The design of the Pällo makes it more than just a brush:

    • Rounded shape plus special ‘fins' on the stalk prevent hot water from pouring on your hands.
    • Durable: heat-resistant, replaceable brush.
    • Ergonomic: an indentation for your thumb makes for a good, comfortable grip .

Multifunctional

  • Under a protective lid sits a small needle for cleaning the pinholes in the steampipe.
  • The back end of the stalk can be used as a measuring spoon for cleaning solution.

Peter Deprez: ‘Beauty is the hallmark of truth.'

Peter Deprez - two-time Belgian barista-champion -  is a great fan of the Pällo coffeetool. He just loves the simplicity and the cleverness of the design. In his establishment ‘Kortrijks Koffiehuis', the Pällo always lies within easy reach.

What does your cleaning routine look like?

  • Always rinse with water first.
  • No pucks in the portafilter.
  • After 5 - 10 shots, clean with Pällo brush.
  • Backflush with cleaning solution on a daily basis.
  • Place the portafilters together with cleaning solution in pitchers at the end of each day.

Why is the Pällo tool so practical?

  • It is a clever design. No hot water pouring over your hands.
  • Multifunctional: Cleaning device plus measuring spoon in one.
  • The needle on top of the brush allows you to also remove dirt, like limescale or milk-residue from pinholes.

Any tips?

  • Prevention is the key to good health. So see to it, that the milk does not enter the steampipe. Always blow air through the steampipe before creaming milk. Press a piece of cloth to the opening of the pipe. Repeat this after creaming the milk.
  • Do not try and remove milk residue from the steampipe using a scouring cloth. Place a pitcher filled with water around the pipe. Let it soak for a while and the residue will come off easily.
  • When, at the end of the day, you place the portafilters with a cleaning solution in the pitcher, then make sure the plastic handle is not soaked in the cleaning liquid. In the long run, the detergent will cause the plastic to erode.
